Hello, I hope you are enjoying browsing my website and here is some more information about me to help you decide if I am the celebrant for you.
It’s important that you are comfortable with the personality and style of your celebrant, and I offer a particular warmth that I am told touches everyone in a room - with the vibrancy for weddings, namings and joyful ceremonies of all kinds, and sincere compassion for our saddest times.
I combine my love of getting to know people and bringing them together with my creative and speaking skills to make truly heart-felt ceremonies for all of life’s seasons, celebrating love and lives.
I was inspired to expand into funeral celebrancy after attending two funerals where I was left with the unpleasant thought – really? Is that all there is to say at the end of a life? I promised myself that I would ensure that any farewell to a loved one would be the very best celebration of their life and loves and accomplishments that we could create.
Twice-married, I am blessed with one beautiful daughter in her twenties and three fantastic step children. My family now is a real cultural and social mishmash representing three countries, three world religions and some humanists. However, only one rugby team is supported in my house!
Charity work is very important to me - I always need to be doing something that benefits humanity in some way. I care about the planet too, and haven't eaten any of its inhabitants for 35 years. I have been a Samaritans volunteer, and trained others to be the same. Currently I am a bereavement volunteer specialising in children and young people's support with the charity Cruse.
In my spare time I love to organise - well - anything really! I arrange big trips to musicals and plays and love dinners and parties of all kinds. I have a great sense of fun and am very sociable.
I am passionate about equality and social justice in their many guises and, in my younger days, you would have found me marching and lobbying for this and that all over London and I also ran a “multi-cultural society” as a student.
Born and bred in Cardiff, I graduated from the University of London with a degree in economics and social theory and have worked in universities and secondary schools for most of my working life, with a special interest in the pastoral care of students.
Recently I have consolidated my celebrancy work through training with the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants to achieve the Ofqual-recognised NOCN L3 Certificate in UK Civil Celebrancy. I have also completed a L3 Certificate in Bereavement Care, to better serve those recently bereaved.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, without any obligation, if you have any queries at all.
With all good wishes
